Now that the cold is back and that we are heading towards Winter, it is quite common to feel an earache. Temperature changes can be the reason for these pains, and kids are especially sensitive to them. But there are very simple and natural tricks to soothe that pain quickly. Let me tell you about our personal favourite that we use at home.
What you’ll need:
- a small onion
- a clean sock
What to do:
- Chop the onion.
- Place the sock on top of the heater or in the oven on very low temperature for a few minutes.
- Put the chopped onion in the warm sock.
- Place the sock on the ear that is painful.
In Conclusion:
The antibacterial and antiseptic properties of the onion will help soothe your earache. On the other hand, the warmth of the sock will stimulate the blood circulation and diminish the pressure, quickly relieving the pain.
Of course, should the pain persist and your ear be infected, please consult a doctor. Also, should your earache be caused by nasal and sinus congestion, think about clearing up your ear/nose/throat canals by doing inhalations and breathing steam.
Another easy trick is to place a few drops of warm olive oil in the ear and to put some cotton to make sure the olive oil stays inside.
